It’s beginning to look a lot like Friendsmas + a gift guide

A night full of Christmas shenanigans + a gift guide for 8 types of people

Hi friends,

Christmas is right around the corner and if you’re like me, you still have loads of Christmas shopping to do. Now we all know Christmas isn't about stuff and gifts but let’s not pretend we don't spend hours browsing, buying, and agonizing over what gifts to get people - or is that just me? If I’m not the only one struggle bussing on what to get people, then stay tuned for my gift guide but first, here’s a little look into a fun holiday extravaganza.

I just celebrated Friendsmas with some of my besties and it was an awesome time where we pigged out on food, played games, opened presents, and laughed and talked for hours.

Also, please enjoy this 3 part series titled: a summary of my relationship

As cheesy as it is, getting to spend time with some of my favorite people was the real gift of the night and it was such a fun night to all be together.

A gift guide for 8 types of people in your life

A customized Hogwarts illustration gifted to me on Friendsmas. I love it so much!

Now, I’m not necessarily the best gift giver so I’m not sure you should be coming to me for any advice but nevertheless here’s my gift guide for 8 different kinds of people in your life.

And please remember:

  • It’s not about the gifts or how much you spend so don’t break the bank

  • Time with your loved ones is the best gift out of all of these

  • Be thoughtful and choose items that will last to prevent waste

  • If you can, choose local, sustainable, and ethical brands and products

  • Experiences are really good options so when all else fails, treat your loved one to a movie, a show, a trip, a hike, anything fun you can do together to make some memories

For the sentimental one

Polaroid cameras are so much fun to have and gift! There’s something about capturing a moment and getting a little picture of it right away that’s so special.

This is actually what I’ve gotten my mom for Christmas this year! I made her a 100 page photo book of our trip to Iceland! It’s hard work and time consuming but in the end it’s so worth it for a sentimental book that holds so many special memories you can keep reliving.

Jewelry is always a home run of a gift. It doesn’t matter whether you spend a little or a lot, the gift is so special because of who gave it to you and every time you wear a piece given by someone you love, it brings fond memories.

Anyone else amass large amounts of journals you probably could never use up in your lifetime but you keep buying them anyway? That’s me. And what better journal to add to someones collection than a customized one with their name!

For the sustainable one

** I have and use most of these items and I very very much recommend them for everyone - not just for those already sustainably minded. We can all make little changes in our daily lives for the good of the planet, its animals, and its people!

These are awesome and we just got one for my sister! They keep your bread fresh and cut down on plastic use.

Saran wrap is terrible because unlike some plastic, this really is single use because it gets all gross and crinkled. So instead, switch to beeswax wraps which can be reused and have the added bonus of looking cute!

These bags are awesome! You know how you’re in the super market and you have to unroll those little plastic bags to put your tomatoes in and then you go home and throw the bag away? Well waste no more! These bags keep your yummy fruit and veg safe and plastic free - they also work well at farmers markets too!

I have these in various sizes and use them all the time! Instead of using single use plastic bags, use these and they work just as great if not better because of the slight structure, they’re better at keeping your snacks from being broken. Just hand wash them when you’re done and they’re ready for another round of snackage.

You can also really cheap versions of these at your local Homegoods!

Books helping you to become more sustainable, ethical, minimal, or simply for easy living are always a good idea because it lets your loved one grow in their own pace towards a a lifestyle more healthy for them and the planet.

For the traveler

Sustainable, ethical, and fun a Cotopaxi packing cube is an awesome gift that’s not only practical but is a really fun thing to add to your travel collection.

Now I know we’re all tired of wearing masks but a sleep mask is a godsend for flights and traveling and if your travel buddy doesn’t have one - trust me they need one.

Hand sanitizer is a very apropos gift in this day and age because of the Vid, so keep your loved ones safe and fashionable with these little holders!

For the nerdy one

Etsy is THE place for fun, unique, and nerdy gifts!!

Plus there’s the added bonus of supporting a small business and artist. I love these LOTR candles and personalized options they have!

Another awesome Etsy find that my best friend, Britt, gifted me this year? A personalized friends Hogwarts illustration! They’re really fun and it’s another way to add customization and make something more special.

Nowadays there are so many beautiful books that have art, behind the scene looks, and a plethora of information that lets you dive deep into your favorite fantasy world.

This is a hysterical gift for the gamer in your life. Get them a miniature video game and let them play for hours on their tiny li’l tv.

For the bougie one

For the one who loves self care and relaxation, a skincare or beauty set is a great gift that lets them have their own little spa day without having to leave the comfort of their own home.

Luxurious and practical, gloves are great gift that you can upscale with a beautiful design or fabric.

These candles are amazing and that is the hill I will die on. What better way to say luxury than beautiful art turned into aesthetically pleasing candles??

For your bougie loved one, a little designer item is always a fun gift, even if it’s small! That way you get them something nice without going overboard on your budget.

For the techie one

If you’re spending a lot of money on technology, you should protect it too. I love cases from Burga (it’s the one I currently have on my phone) and they offer a huge and beautiful collection of case prints and patterns for all different kinds of items like AirPods and computers!

This is a great gift if you want to splurge on someone who loves music. And the added bonus? Once you get them the player then future gifts are easy: just get them records they’ve been wanting!

For the movie buff in your life, this is such a fun and portable gift that lets them enjoy a movie anywhere!

For the outdoorsy one

People who don’t enjoy socks as gifts are sad people because look at these fun colors! Great for hiking, thick to keep you warm, and something they’ll definitely use.

Cozy jackets, fleeces, and sweaters are always good gift ideas and you have the added bonus of Patagonia being a sustainable and ethical brand!

Bring nature inside with adorable planters for those green thumb loved ones.

I don’t know why but I feel like you can never have enough bags and backpacks, especially when it comes to traveling or hiking. A new pack is always fun and is a gift they can definitely use!

For the fun one

Kitschy earrings are some of my favorite gifts to give just because they’re so fun! You can get them super cheap at Target, Nordstrom Rack, and Tjmaxx and there’s always so many fun designs out there that can spice up an outfit.

These skeletons are having a good time and your loved one will too if you gift them this.

Kitschy, fun, and unique - this is the perfect game for the fun one in the crew.

If you’re not about to say rollerskates are amazing then I don’t want to hear it. Just make sure your friend is actually somewhat coordinated or their future bloody nose is gonna make things awkward.

That’s all for today folks. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and I will see you in the New Year!! Catch up on my other posts here!
