Summer Lovin’
5 fun things to do this summer and what to wear while doing them
Hi Friends!
Potentially controversial opinion but - summer is my least favorite season. I just plain do not thrive in the heat but it’s my favorite in terms of how many activities there are to do!
It’s also so much fun to break out dresses, cutie shorts, and all things light and lace. So here’s 5 of my favorite things to do over the summer (plus some bonus activities) and what you can wear while doing them!
Spend time in the great outdoors
One of the best things about summer is that the weather is warm and beautiful, the days are long and calm and that means you can spend time in outside. Now, I’m not like a super outdoorsy person but I love hiking, wildlife, being in nature, and long walks. (just please don’t ask me to go backpacking or go on a 30 mile hike)
If you’re lucky enough to live near the mountains, that’s my favorite thing to do in the summer. Rocky Mountain National Park is beyond beautiful and we love spending time in Estes Park - the perfect mountain town!
You can wear so many different cute outdoorsy outfits too! Leggings, fun backpacks, and sweatshirts galore. As a side note, I got this Cotopaxi backpack and highly recommend! It’s super fun and Cotopaxi is an amazing ethical and sustainable brand so if you’re looking for a new pack, give them a look!
If you ever visit Estes, don’t forget to make a stop at Hayley’s!! They have the best homemade blueberry cheesecake ice cream and I get some almost every time I’m up there.
2. Bloom by the Flowers
If you can’t tell by the copious amounts of floral patterns I wear, I LOVE flowers. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to go buy flowers for our pots, spend time at nurseries looking at plants, and dressing super cute while doing it.
3. Candlelight Dinner Theater
A really fun thing to do anytime of the year - but especially fun in the summer is to go to a local dinner theater or play! You can go EXTRA with your outfits and that’s kind of my favorite thing ever. We love going to the Candlelight Dinner Theater because it is an awesome experience that includes dinner, a show, plus you get to help a local place.
Everyone dresses to different levels of fancy. From cargo shorts and t-shirts to me being the absolute most overdressed person there, it’s an excuse to dress up a little if you want and have some fun. We went to see Shrek and you know I had to dress in theme.
4. Girls Night Out or In
I have a wonderful group of friends and we love going out, or even staying in, together. It doesn’t have to be crazy but it can be, it doesn’t have to be fancy but it can be, all that matters is spending time with friends, dressing like the girl gang we are, and laughing all night together.
5. All the Sports Things
Okay truth time. I love baseball because my mom loves it and she loves it because her parents loved it. I know mostly how it works and all the rules and although I don’t really follow stats or teams, I love going to watch a game. The atmosphere and team spirit are so much fun plus you can get Dip ‘n Dots.
I know I’m a colossal outfit repeater in this post but I’m telling you - t-shirts and biker shorts are where it’s at in terms of comfort while still being cute. But take inspo from my bestie, Britt, and add classic denim shorts and an everyday basic tee for a fun and cute look.
