Give ‘Em Pumpkin To Talk About
A Fall 2021 Lookbook
Hi friends!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the cooling weather, changing leaves, and copious amounts of all things pumpkin; I know I have! Just like I did for spring, I wanted to do a fall lookbook to help inspire you for a new season.
I’m obsessed with fall and I’m so excited we’re back to wearing comfy sweaters and cute boots. This season is all about mixing and matching and that’s what I was going for in this somewhat impromptu photoshoot.
So please enjoy this new lookbook: Give ‘em Pumpkin to Talk About
6 Pieces = 12 outfits
I’m doing something a little different this time round. Instead of choosing separate outfits, I decided to do a little capsule wardrobe for this lookbook so you can see multiple ways of styling the same piece.
Sustainability in the fashion industry is all about using what you already have, getting creative, and wearing the same things a lot. It’s not always about getting new pieces and having a different outfit everyday. True style is how you can transform each piece - not how many pieces you have.
To do this, I chose 6 key pieces for a fall wardrobe and mixed and matched them to create 12 looks.
Statement sweater + black jeans
Cool, casual, and absolutely no effort. Pick a sweater with a cool pattern, bright color, or interesting silhouette and let your statement piece do all the work for you. Throw on easy basics and boom - you lookin’ fine.
2. Statement sweater + patterned skirt
Does this go together? To be honest I’m not quite sure, but that’s the fun of fashion. Experimenting and putting things together you normally wouldn’t or things that don’t quite work and that’s why it’s fun! I put together two different patterns - one linear and one organic, to add interest to the outfit.
3. Cableknit sweater + patterned skirt
Ugh, how cute? Basic sweaters are the foundation of fall fashion so make sure you’ve got at least one great one in your wardrobe and you can pair it with just about anything. Adding this flowy skirt and some heeled booties makes it feel extra special. Plus, I love playing with skirts in that fall wind - it’s magical.
4. Cableknit sweater + black jeans + oversized blazer
I’m obsessed with anything oversized and this blazer gives me menswear vibes that I can’t get enough of.
5. Cabelknit sweater + oversized blazer + mini dress
Style tip: get twice the use out of your dresses by putting sweaters on top! Now you’ve got an automatic new outfit/skirt combo and you can still wear some of those shorter dresses if you layer it right.
6. Red dress + oversized blazer
If you’re like me and you wear outfits inappropriate for the season, then keep on rocking your short dresses and sleeveless items even through the fall. You might be freezing, but you’ll be dang cute while doing it. Throwing on a jacket gives you a bit of warmth while still showing off your legs because I do not use fake tanner year-round for nothing folks.
7. Red dress
Everyone should have a little red dress (unless red’s not your color then go for something else) BUT the point is: have a fabulous dress that you love and feel good in and rock it whenever we get that spontaneously warm weather in October.
8. Red dress + patterned skirt
Life hack: tuck your dresses into skirts for another easy combo and way to spread out the versatility and wear of your dresses. You have to be a little strategic with it but it’s perfect for adding creativity and longevity to your items!
9. Red dress + patterned skirt + oversized blazer
This is probably my favorite combination because it makes me feel cute and casual. I live for the femininity of the skirt juxtaposed with the menswear vibe from the blazer.
10. Cable knit sweater + patterned skirt + oversized blazer
The awesome thing about wearing skirts in the fall? If it gets cold you can throw on thermal leggings underneath or tall boots but you still get that feminine and lightweight feel of a flowy item.
11. Statement sweater + red dress
Okay full disclosure, I don’t love this pairing but that’s kind of how style works. You put things together, realize you hate it, and move on to things you like. It’s not the worst thing I’ve ever worn (I used to exclusively wear soccer t-shirts and basketball shorts from the boys section at Walmart) but that’s how you grow in your style. Find what works and what doesn’t and let it shape you.
12. Sweater + dress
Simple and easy, you can pair this look with sneakers, tall boots, or heels depending on the occasion. Plus, switch up sweater/dress combos for endless options!
And there you have it! 6 pieces to create 12 outfits. I hope you got a little inspired by some of these pairings and enjoy mixing and matching your own wardrobe this season!
